Some time ago I wrote that my Enfield Envoy was the most boring rifle that I own as it was so accurate.
No longer. I have just bought a No.8 and took it to my local indoor range today. After zeroing the sights this is the firs group I have fired, 15 rounds at 25 yards....

Yep they're accurate little devils. That's why they had to use those one shot per target targets for them.

I forgot to mention that this was the first time that I have shot a small bore target rifle. My other .22 is an old pump action Winchester.

Yes, the rifle is accurate but the nut behind the trigger has to do his job too

Which No8 do you have the "Infantry" or the "Match"?

It is a early (1950) competition rifle with Parker Hale 5C rear sight and a PH Matchmaker foresight.
This is how it was made, not modified, and looks like it has just come out of the box.
I paid highly for it as I wanted, what may be my last rifle, to be a good one.

It's what we use for pistol and gallery rifle practice.

I still have the stack of targets from my Reserve infantry training days with the No. 7. That was in the 1970’s. I think they were converted LB No. 4s with a sleeved barrel. Memory says we called them a No. 8 but not sure if that was the correct designation.   They were full stocked with service front sight and the No. 7 windage adjustable peep. At 25 Yards, they would produce a ragged hole if you were a good shot. We were kids then, I didn’t actually learn how to shoot position for another 30 years.

I think the full stocked ones were No7's?
Made by BSA for the RAF.

It sounds like you have the "Match" which also had a longer, heavier barrel than the "Infantry" model.
