Is there an official barrel torque specification for the SMLE?

It's time to screw the new barrel in, make a witness mark, and cut the extractor notch.

I used the search function first, and it came up blank. I just tried it again, and it came back with this thread.

I'll poke around randomly and see what I get...

[edit]
I went through all four pages in this subsection and didn't see any headers that looked likely.

[edit]
Just stepped through the 66 pages on the main forum looking for a promising thread title, just in case the discussion occurred before this subforum was created. Also got zero hits for "torque" there, too.

I found both barrel torque and barrel screw torque.  posts Barrel showed between 250 to 300 ft lbs and the screw was at 20 ft lbs.  Go to search and click on advanced to the left Type in "barrel torque" scroll down and change the dates to any date and hit search

Click on search on tool bar on in-between FAQ and Memberlist.

Search box will open click on advanced search

Just below Forum Search type in “Barrel Torque”  where it says search by keyword.

Go to search options under the block find posts change from last six months to any date.

Then go to the bottom of page and click on  start search

Nope. There's no "advanced" in the top search box, just the bottom one.

Click... wait for Fireflop to heave itself off the hard disk... log in.. ah, now there's an "advanced" in the top "search", between FAQ and Calendar. Click, click advanced, type "barrel torque", some animated Flash trash "Processing" thing pops up...and, nope, still just this thread.

Okay, fire up VMWare, load an XP image, fire up Exploder 8, log in - got another Flash thingie - go through the Search thing again, same results as Fireflop and Konqueror.

I *did* search before I posted, and after you said it had been discussed before. I've stepped through every page here and on the main subforum and found no header names that sounded likely to me.

[brainstorm] Google "enfield-rifles.com" and "barrel torque." Believe it or not, Google has already indexed this thread. And it's not returning any other results, either.

I dunno whats going on here Cookie I just followed your instructions step-by-step & got all the posts in this thread & one post of mine from a while back (the one about unwrapping an Enfield) but still nothing on barrel torque, except all the mentions of it in this thread.
I'm using Firefox if that matters & I do see the "search box".

You have to chick on the search icon first a small box will open. there is a small window to type in key words, and Show posts and show topics  option buttons and to the right there is a GO tab just below that there is an advanced search in blue letters click on that

Since it seems to work on your end, would you mind posting a link to one of those threads you were talking about?

The only result I could get was if I changed the forums on the left hand side of the screen and then the only result was for the p14 at 250-300lbs.
I have never seen an official torque for the lee enfield.
