Hi all, I'm brand new here, and pretty excited to take part in all of the discussions.
I started collecting Lee Enfield Rifles after seeing a picture of my great-grandfather. He was part of the Australian Imperial Force ruring WWI and fought on the Western Front at the very end of the war. He moved to the US after the war and became a competitive shooter in the 20s and 30s. In the only picture I have of him he's proudly shooting an Enfield at a match. I always wanted one of those rifles as a boy. I first shot an SMLE in Canada when I was 19. I was there as part of an Air Cadet Exchange. The family I stayed with took me shooting, and after I got to fire one, I was hooked.
Today I have a small collection of Lee-Enfields, and they make up a good portion of all the rifles I own. My favorite is a 1918 SSA NoIII* that my grandfather gave me, and I believe it is the same rifle my great-grandfather was shooting in the picture though I'm not positive. My best shooting is a 1955 Ishapore that has gone on several hunting trips for elk and antelope.
Thanks for this community, and I look forward to participating.

Welcome to the Forum champ0608 , very interesting history there Bud ..Must tell us more ...Most all of us on here have some interesting stories of how they caught the Enfield Bug .. I shot My first .303 when I was 16 or 17 years old ..a friend of mine had been given a jungle carbine from his uncle .... Boy did I want that rifle ..learned a few years latter that He just left it in the trunk of His car and it rusted real bad ...
Took me about 15 to 20 years to get an Enfield for My self ... |
