I'm curious about the Churchill bolt.!
Not curved, seems "unfinished" or (Gawd 'elp us, chromed) & so not original.
Anyone got a 'Splaination, Lucy?

I read somewhere once the records had been burned in a building fire, for what that information is worth.

No idea what you are seeing. If you are referring to the Churchills rifle in my photo, any difference it seems to have from a  standard L-E bolt is just due to the photo. Both the P-H and Churchills bolts and bolt handles are the same as every other SMLE.

I have two Parker-Hale Custom #1 rifles and both have stained forend caps that are not really caps at all. Its well done, and looks good, but it doesn't function as a cap to seal the forend wood. Its actually pretty convincing. The Czechoslovakian Brno ZKK series of rifles from the 80's, relatively common in Canada, used the same trick. That is a strong stain, whatever it is.

The Churchills that I own has an actual forend cap.

I picked up another P-H the other day, a Supreme #1.

I too have one of those Churchill 'sporters' as well. Mine is a no.4 mk1. I tried every contact I could find on the internet to find some information on these. I traded about a dozen emails with the gun room manager at churchill gunmakers and he assured me that they have lost all their old information. The company changed hands too many times for anyone to really know anything about the old records but he says they were destroyed at some point.

Have you ever seen a value on your churchill? I love mine. Would love to know any info you have on them.

I'm going to be selling a Churchill soon. I'll let you know how much I got for it.
In general I think the Paker-Hales sell for more just because the name is better known. That said, neither one sells for a whole lot. There is some prejudice against them because they are seen as just another chopped down Lee-Enfield...But in fact they are one of the last great gun bargains.

I have a Churchill similar to the one in the OP.  I purchased it in the Fall of 1965 at a local hardware store for $65.  Sleek old rifle.

I agree that the P-H and Churchill conversions are two of the last great bargains in a quality conversion.  I have seen some very nice Churchills and Parker-Hales at gun shows sell pretty cheap.

Now, I suppose I'll have to gather up a Parker-Hale.

For me, the Parker-Hale Supreme No. 1 is the best of the lot...found a nice one and I've sold my others.
