Over a long career in the Pro shooting industry I've owned a lot of
Enfields in their various forms & converstions (at one stage years
ago I owned about 30 at once ) I'm still a sucker for a nice Enfield
(is there any other kind ????) But I have also owned some shockers ! I
once brought a Mk3 for the princely sum of $15.00 & on getting it
too the range I found that it kicked like a mule & the bullets
tumbled out of the muzzle ! Now like anybody else I hate the thought of
buying infearer goods ! So out with a Hacksaw & off with a inch of
barrel to remove the worn muzzle ! I then looked down the Barrel
I'd been sold a small bore Shotgun by mistake surely !!!! The previous
owner would'nt have off loaded a piece of junk onto me????? What it was
,was that this rifle (well at one stage of it's life it had rifling)
Had been fed (I'm sure) a excluzive diet of Nickle coated bullets
(During WW2 copper was scarce A Nickle was used to jacket MkV11
bullets) These are silver in colour & leave a deposit of nickle
each shot which is near impossible to remove !!!!
I ended up selling the Rifle to a new chum for about $45.00 ! Nw before you get up on your high horses about what a rouge I am ! Let me tell you, he talked me down from $60.00!!!!!!!!! Dave |
