My first sight of a Parker Hale Enfield was my dad's. I thought it was the coolest looking rifle out there, even compared to his 1958 Weatherby Mark V. I looked at that P-H all these years and finally told myself, you can make one just like that. I checked and rechecked all my calculations and then got out my Dremel tool and started cutting and grinding metal away from a somewhat pristine Savage receiver. Found a MkI NoIII barrel,25.4 inches, reindexed it the receiver, bought a nice used Sile stock set that came with a new P-H butt pad and so far. It's coming together nicely.

This one is all mine as far as who made it.
All I had was the receiver,a Savage. If I screwed up I wasn't going to be out a whole lot. Once I got all the metal removed from the receiver I started the procurement of a Sile stock set,Parker Hale scope mount and base with rings. I bought a stripped down NoIII barrel and reindexed it to the No4 receiver, drilled and tapped the scope base to the receiver. Added a Huber Concepts adjustable trigger to get a smooth single stage pull. Just waiting for the rest of the scope parts to arrive. As far as the finish,I'm leaving it alone. The wood is still nice.

It looks like a nice sporter. However personally I would not have used a no1 type barrel; it is lighter than the no4 and generally requires the support of the original forestock to keep it accurate. You may find that it's not as accurate as a no4 barrel when fitted to a sporter.
If you reload your own ammo; you may find a recipe that works ok with it.
Let us know how it shoots when you've got the scope sorted.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!
