Picked up this beautiful 1943 No.4 MK1 today in a trade. All numbers matching. It looks like it was FTR'd in 1948.  Anyone recognize the marking on the front?

Considering I also got a bolt mismatch K98 with U.S. Army retention papers, and a 1921 Izhevsk M91/30, a Mauser bayonet, 270 rounds of .303, and 70 rounds of 7.62x54R

And all I traded was a Field Grade M1 Garand mixmaster.

Its a DOU 44 , matching stock, bands, very good condition, has a G33/40 bolt and U.S. Army Firearm Retention tag.

Yes I know, I just copied and pasted my original post. The guy threw in 250 rounds of South African .303 with it, as well as bayonet.

I'd say you got a pretty good deal with. It's a well worn good looking Lee Enfield.

What ammo is it?  Their machine gun ammo is not marked as MkVIII.  It's R1M2 or R2M2 or something.  A No4 should be able to handle it though.
