These are some photos of my No4 Mk1/goldenstates firearms company i have been working on it some and have uncovered some markings i dont know what they are
Serial number left hand side under safety catch

The # on the bolt matches and the barrel has 2 serial numbers and it looks like the serial number has been filed in the photo below the safety catch.

Also i looked in the manufactures stamps posting in the new enfield info page and the only manufacture stamp begins with A is AW NO AU stamp so iam wondering what have i got and where did it come from.

To me, it looks like a '43 Maltby that had the socket wiped and re-stamped, and the barrel stamped to match.

If a rifle was reworked as this one was would the year date be restamped ? The reason i ask is the 3 looks like it was stamped over a 1 the 3 is a little mangled

I don't have the right computer here , but I think '43 started with AG so the AU should be right for that year.
