I am fortunate enough to not know anybody who (in 2013) would cut-down an otherwise mint rifle.  Previously tinkered and unrestorable examples are another matter...

I do not have a problem with sporterized rifles.

My Father sporterized a Russian M44 carbine for a brush gun. Looks like crap but works just fine.

The running joke on it was if he missed with the first shot no problem. The muzzle flash blinded the deer so the secound shot was easy.
Always looking for military manuals, Dodge M37 items, books on Berlin Germany, old atlases ( before 1946) , military maps of Scotland. English and Canadian gun parts.

Speaking of sporterizing,Does anyone have some Bubba furniture for a Santa Fe/Golden State Arms No.4.I have one that went through a house fire and was hanging on a barn wall.I'd like to restore some of it's dignity and let it serve Mankind as a demo/training rifle...Plese help this burn victim.
P.S. Rhino remember the blue training ammo you had given me? I have discovered that it is actually 7.62mm armmadillo...LOL

Are you restoring it to hang on a wall? I would suggest you permanently disable the action so nobody can ever fire it. A receiver that has been through a fire cannot be trusted. Just wouldn't like to see anyone get hurt by one of these, ever. I always defer to the N'th degree with safety.

Stamp "DP, Fire damage" on the action, bolt and barrel.

Oh don't worry fellows. This rifle would NEVER pass as shootable. It was burned then hung outside. The action was rusted solid,But,Being an Enfield I had to rescue it.I will have it blasted and I will reblue it.I will then use it as a teaching tool at Project Appleseed weekends. But I promise I will plug the chamber with JB Weld.

Hats off to you, Ishapore150! Anyone giving their time helping out kids deserves any help we can give. I don't have a cutaway rifle yet, but if you are considering doing it, yell out and I will dredge up some pics for you to study.

A cutaway is a great idea for this damaged rifle.
I'm fairly sure that several visitors to this board have detailed photos of the cutaways used to instruct armorer trainees.
Though most I've seen are No.1 actions.

Another possible use would be to chop the barrel short and weld the chamber, then weld a length of tubing or pipe to the stub and obtain a stock set some one has discarded during a refurb and build a drill purpose only dummy rifle.

When making DP rifles the Egyptians ground down the left hand lug and welded a hardened steel pin in the left lug locking recess, so an unaltered bolt could not be substituted for the welded up DP bolt.
They didn't bother to plug the bores or chambers.
