I stopped in at my grandfathers this weekend and came home with a rifle out of his closet.

This example is another sante fe modification a "jungle carbine mark I" built on a 1915 BSA no1 mk3* matching numbers no idea if magazine is original to the rifle but appears so.
The stock looks good bore is a strong 5 groove some of it is bright but has some dark spots, stock is nice and everything appears functional. Has some rust on the mag and some light spotting on the exterior.
Unfortunately someone cut the flash hider off the front sight base, I know some consider these a bubba anyway but i would have preferred it to be in the state it was when it left Golden state arms, but for the low low price of "thank you grandpa" I shall not complain.

So that makes my second enfield and i love em both this "jungle carbine" looks like it'll kick like a mule but thats ok i like it rough.

very nice sporters , the Santa Fes have become a colectible varient all their own in recent years , we have an abundance of sporter folks here that will add to this i am sure , those are very nice examples from what i see ,

congrats on the camera too - you will appreciate it over the coming years , took urging for a friend in iowa to get me to buy into that aspect of this endeavor , ive always been happy i bought mine ,

Your sporter has been made on an unusual 1915 MkIII*. Only BSA made MkIII* in 1915, all others manufacturers began in 1916.
The 1915 BSA MKIII* S/N began between X81971 and Y40723 (thus your Y66746 is correct, my intouched 1915 BSA MkIII* is Y93140).

'fross'.... Nice 'BSA & Co - 1916' Thumbs Up

I see that its fitted with the longer WW2 'LMG' sling = '55' inch rather than the normal '45' inch....

This is MY rifle, there are many like, but this one... is MINE!

Not 1916..., 1915. Tongue

Thank you for indicating me the correct WW1 SMLE sling lenght. I didn't know it.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately the peep sights were poorly done on these and this one flops more than i'm happy with. Does any one have any problems with me fitting a scope mount to the carbine? I've been considering trying the ati mount but with the cut rear receiver ring for the peep I don't know if its even an option plus I don't want to waste money and have it fall off as soon as i shoot it.

Any thoughts on a side mount?
I believe my only other option would be an original rear base and put a "scout" rail on it for my optic (just a reflex sight can't stand these peep sights) which would require me butchering a new forend as well. Normally I'm dead set against drilling and tapping my rifles but for this one I feel like it might be the better option.
