I just wanted to share my excitement at FINALLY purchasing said bayonet for my #5. Not cheap, that's for sure but it is mint. Here is the write up written by the vendor. (My #5 is a 1947 BSA). "British, No.5 Jungle Carbine Bayonet (Poole 1947), MK VI Scabbard By S294 (Wilkinson) And Frog. Sn 11873 - 11873
This is an excellent original British No.5 Jungle Carbine Bayonet and Scabbard With Frog. The bayonet with 8" Bowie style clean blade ( 12" overall) has muzzle ring, cross guard and pommel with lug button that has a good strong spring action. It has undamaged slab wood grips secured by 2 srew bolts. The ricasso is stamped 'P' (Royal Ordnance Factory Poole) and dated '1947'. The pommel is stamped with WD arrow over ‘F5’ and ‘B’ together with ‘C2’ over ‘B’. The bayonet is complete with its MK VI steel scabbard with steel mouthpiece and is marked above the frog stud ‘S294’ denoting Wilkinson manufacture which is undamaged with original black paint finish and webbing frog the rear of which is ink stamped with unreadable numbers. No figures are available for poole’s production but they were only made for a couple of years so figures would be small compared to Wilkinson for example who made approx. 188,354 (see pages 238-40 of Skennerton’s book British & Commonwealth Bayonets)." Hoadie, I inquired for you about availability of a #5 bayonet for you and got a response that they do get them in quite often so check out this link JC Militaria. Hoadie, check your incoming messages. |

Searched everywhere online. Gun shows in my area were a futile attempt. I almost bought a re-pro but that went against my grain so I held out for the real McCoy. I hope Hoadie finds one as well, I sent him a link. I'll post pics of the rifle with the bayonet attached on
this thread. |

ACK!! That's BOOTIFUL!!
I a-feared about how much u paid. Thanx fer the link..I'm asking for more info on it, cuz there is no markings visable, its nowhere as clean as the one you got..& I get the impression the frog is a re-pro. (Not to mention the name "DEREK" cut crudely into the handle) |

Hoadie, let's tell the whole story. You where send out side to play with scissors. Now you have a fixation with bayonets. It is a good thing you where not sent out to hang up your sister's clothes on the clothesline. |
