I picked up this Gun at a store recently and am wondering what the markings mean, it doesn't look like a standard Enfield. Thanks!

It looks like someone sporterized a 1918 BSA-made No1 MkIII* by trimming the wood.

It was definitely a military rifle when BSA made it because it has the "royal cypher (crown)", Broad Arrow property marks & a stock disc which would have ID'd the unit it was issued to / used by. Those weren't put on commercial guns.

The  D/l\D  indicates Australian military service.

i cant recall which military district is 1 , but one of our ausie members will tell you - she served in their home guard in WWII

1st Military District was Queensland.
