trump said ??? just sayin , it took both to tamgle ...........
Antifa adherents — some armed with sticks and masked in bandannas — played a visible role in the running street battles in Charlottesville, but it is impossible to know how many people count themselves as members of the movement. Its followers acknowledge it is secretive, without official leaders and organized into autonomous local cells. It is also only one in a constellation of activist movements that have come together in the past several months to the fight the far right. Driven by a range of political passions — including anticapitalism, environmentalism, and gay and indigenous rights — the diverse collection of anarchists, communists and socialists has found common cause in opposing right-wing extremists and white supremacists. In the fight against the far right, antifa has allied itself at times with local clergy, members of the Black Lives Matter movement and grass-roots social-justice activists. It has also supported niche groups like Black Bloc fighters, who scrapped with right-wing forces in Berkeley this year, and By Any Means Necessary, a coalition formed more than two decades ago to protest California’s ban on affirmative action for universities. |

I dunno...lookin in from out, its as if America is unravelling. I really hate it when they call ANYONE with an opposing view a "NAZI".
(They can't be Nazis...I've NEVER seen any of 'em at the meetings!) You can't reason with these anarchists. If you try to speak from factual truth, they shout you down as a racist. If it isn't what THEY believe..its wrong. What really gets me, is the way the sheep are following these clowns. They are really messing up society. |

They tore the plaque off the Hudson Bay building in Montreal the other day.
It was put there, because a prominent Montrealer had a house that stood there. Because Jefferson Davis stayed there, with his friend for a year or two, they felt that it is in-appropriate.(How stupid!) If they want to get to the truth re: slavery..they should go back to the beginning. It was the black Africans that started it. Capturing other black Africans & selling them to the Dutch "explorers". That started the slave trade! (I'm told Brasil became the largest slave state in the world.(Larger than ALL of the other participants combined!) In the Emancipation Proclamation (1863) Lincoln specifically allowed the "Indian Territories" to continue the trade. Just sayin.. |

I believe that all extremist views, whether it be political or religious all stem from a basic lack of education and closed mindset.
I've found that travel is probably the best education you can get as far as getting along with people is concerned. But I bet that most of those causing trouble have never stepped foot out of their own back yard! |

Yer right on there, Zed!
I read a report - number of years back..late 80's, early 90's. IIRC it indicated that only 12% of Americans had ever travelled abroad. What was really stunning was they said 30% hadn't been out of their own state.(I imagine those stats have changed somewhat now). Your right on when you say travel is the best educator. Always good to see how "the other half lives", & gives you a great perspective |

It has nothing to do with what Trump said in reality. To the single narrow viewpoint the progressives have everything he does, no matter what is automatically wrong. The best way I've heard it put is this:
Monday, One of Trumps companies finds a cheap available cure for 99% of types of cancer & donates it free to the WHO for global distribution. Tuesday's headlines: "Trumps capitalist empire single handedly destroys world wide healthcare"! Idee Fixe I think is the term. |

There's a saying that people get the politicians they deserve. Looking at things from the outside, I'm far from convinced that the USA is heading in a good direction at present. I don't think Trump is really the problem, but he is maybe representative. It just appears that people in the States have a certain viewpoint and anyone who has an opposing view is all bad and is to be fought against, or sacked. Zed is right. More tolerance is needed and that only comes from exposing yourself to other ways of life and experiences.

Trump is doing a very good job. he is not the problem. These opposing him and all middle and right of centre Americans are a mob and out of control. they need squashing and fast. I saw this on another forum, from a US Marine. I think he puts it Very well!!;
From Facebook, in regard to Antifa:
Feel free to c&P as I did. IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM A MARINE.... HATERS
IN
AMERICA HAD BETTER LISTEN UP FOR THEIR OWN GOOD!
From a Marine:
"If you are paid $25.00 an hour to show up to a rally to "counter" the
other
party using physical force and violence, you are not a "counter
protestor."
You are a mercenary.
There is no need for further debate on this. You were paid to attack
someone
you don't know for reasons that you couldn't care enough about to go
there
for free. You did your "job" and collected your check and your
reimbursement
of expenses.
You're a mercenary.
Not a Patriot. Not a Social Justice Warrior. Not a Defender of Freedom
or
Liberty. Not an upholder of Truth or Justice. None of those things you
claim
to be.
You are a mercenary.
And mercenaries are not lawful combatants and deserve whatever comes
their
way at the hands of the people they are attacking.
You have no 1st Amendment rights when you're a mercenary.
Doesn't matter what side you're on. Doesn't matter what cause you're
showing
up to disrupt.
If you can't express yourself peacefully through diplomatic means, then
you
better be prepared to meet your maker at the hands of someone who is
only
barely keeping their own violent tendencies at bay through a massive
exercise of self-control.
I know it sounds romantic to attend these rallies and get sh*t started
with
the other side. And when you're young and passionate, it's really easy
to
get whipped up into a frenzy of raw emotions. There is a reason why
young
people are preferred when it comes to warfare. They are easy to
manipulate
and control and set off.
But I'm telling you all this right now. You've got no idea what road you
are
starting down. Romance and idealism wears off really fast when you're
laying
in a pool of your own blood trying to stuff your intestines back into
your
torn abdomen.
I've been lucky enough to go forty-two years without having to put
the
skills I learned in the Marines to use. I continue to train and keep
those
skills up to date because I see the madness that is happening all
across
this country. I don't train to attack others like you do. I train to
defend
others FROM you. I'm not alone either.
There are thousands of men and women in this country who have seen war
and
death and don't want anymore to do with it. They want to live in peace.
They
want to forget the things they've had to do in the service of their
country.
They want to raise their kids and have family BBQs and build tree houses
and
soap box derby cars and have tea parties.
They don't want this sh*t that you're selling.
You have the extremist left and the extremist right that are doing
their
best to get something started. To force us into a Civil War. Even in
the
1860's, the violence between the North and South was nowhere near what
we
see today. Nowhere. Even. Close.
And yet we still had a war of ideology that consumed hundreds of
thousands
of lives.
All you young and naive kids on both sides of this equation who think
that
having a Civil War will advance your agenda or restore your vision of
what
you think is America, just remember this...
Those of us older generations aren't having this sh*t. And if you jump
off,
you better be prepared to deal with US. We don't care what color
you're
wearing or what sign you're holding if you come after us, our friends,
our
family, our co-workers, our neighbors, etc., WE will kill you.
So remember that when you're thinking that it's just Left vs Right,
or
Liberal vs Conservative, or Commie vs. Fascist. We are the variable
you're
not considering.
That "Silent Majority" that you pretend does not exist is getting
really
sick and tired of your bullsh*t. I think he puts it very well indeed. In my book, this calls for Martial law, read them then riot act, then hose the buggers. |

The whole world has gone bonkers.
Then again, its been 70+ years since there was a major war..So I guess we're due. Seems that most of the real threats these days, are coming from within. Just can't figger it out..America gives everyone everything they need to succeed, yet these anarchists want to tear it down. Is it corrupt politicians, "disaffected" youth, communists, unemployment or just plain insanity?? |

I saw this elsewhere but I think it sums it up neatly.
"Wanting & trying to start a civil war when the opposition has 8,000,000 firearms & 10,000,000 rounds of ammunition while you're trying to figure out which bathroom to use? Do the math"! |

There was absolutely nothing wrong with President Trump's response. The media made an issue out of it as part of their ongoing campaign against the President. Nothing Trump says is "right." If he announced a cure for cancer today, tomorrow's headlines would read "Trump Puts Grave Diggers and Undertakers Out Of Work." The media in this country has almost become a wing of the Democratic party with their constant attacks on Trump. I trust nothing they say. Unfortunately, there are those who believe everything the media says, lock, stock, and barrel.
We have descended a long way from the days of Walter Cronkite and Chet Huntley.

It's the lemming syndrome. In days of yore, there was a season for war. The summer, mostly, when armies made up from everyday folk went off with their kings and dukes to conquer more land to add to the kingdom (or defend what you had) and get killed in droves, the survivors coming back in time to get the crops in to feed everyone during the winter, after which, it would all start again. The Hundred Years War would be more accurately called The Hundred Summers War. This pretty much happened all through history up until WW2, or perhaps Vietnam, although by that time, it was a year round thing.
But since then, most wars have been relatively small affairs involving only a select few. Those being regular forces personnel. So the rest of the population have felt out of it. As time goes by, with no outlet for the Human condition of making war on their neighbours, they get agitated. They start to push their political agendas and demonize those that don't adhere to their beliefs, so drawing closer and closer to conflict, where they can indulge in that almost addictive human occupation, making war! The reasons for violence are many and varied. Religion is a biggie, always has been. Many blame religion for a lot of the wars throughout history, but that really is a red herring. Religion is an excuse to fight. The war is an end in itself. Violence could be over ownership of land, political beliefs, even on a smaller stage, which team you support. So when people jokingly say that it's time we had another big war to sort out the population, maybe it's not such a joke... Well, it's a theory. But it's hard to say, given history, that Man is not a warlike beast.
