If you get sheep get at least two as sheep are flock type things.

Well, things on this front are going even better. My dad and stepmom talked it over and they actually are selling me the property for $15,000. I tried to argue it was too low but they want out from under it and are happy that it is staying in the family and want to cut me a break. I am simply dumbfounded but I won't argue it any more. Heck of a deal!

Just think of it as rent you pay to yourself instead of a landlord.
Do remember to keep a maintenance budget though. Start right away even if its small like $10.oo a week. You're the janitor, plumber & so on now. |

I had been trying to look for a place closer to Watertown but it was way too expensive to afford anything. Which is why I have been stuck in an apartment for 17 years. Looking forward to having a yard to do stuff in, being able to get a pet finally.... and the freedom of peeing on a tree if I so desire

You won't regret it Bear. I bought a place in the country 11 years ago, because city is too expensive to buy. It's renovation is still not finished; but it is mine! next year it'll be fully paid for and we'll have a party!

as life changing as this might seem today within a few months it will be as routine as paying rent or anything else you have ever done and you will be building a future with roots that obviously have a solid base already ,
i know nothing or things there but i think you got a deal on this new beginning , savor this new step you have taken , build your dreams , that drive is not that bad - ive done much more on a couple occasions in my life journey and those that travel for work would envy you that commute , i am very happy for you ,

Well, over the past weekend I committed to something major. I am buying a small house sitting on 6 acres of land. It's owned by my dad and he has had big offers on it but he knew I was very interested if he ever got rid of it. He offered it all to me for $20,000 on Contract For Deed. I couldn't pass it up. The only real downside is I will have to commute 45 miles to work but with a decent car the math comes out to being much cheaper than living in the middle of Watertown. Plus, I will have space to work on my vehicles and my own 100 yard rifle range that we set up long ago. I am excited... a little scared... but happy.
