Howdy out there,
Brand new to the forum. Just inherited what I think is a 1910 no1 mark111 but is has WAY more stamps than I have seen on most of the pre WW11 guns. I would love to use this rifle moving forward but would like to at least know the history as well. Is there an enfield specialist/guy in the Houston area that anyone knows or who is on this board? Thanks for the info

post photos for the best answers , you seem to have a nice early pre-WWI rifle , it would be a jem if not issued and equally if it was [to many of us here] we cannot give you much based on what we have been offered so far ,
there is a wealth of knowledge available here to those willing to share what they have in detail , welcome to the site , glad you have joined us ,

unfortunately it has been sporterised and I am going to need to find the correct safety. I got to shoot it about 15 years ago and love the gun. I know I need to define the year etc. before I am sure what safety I need to try to procure for it.

All the No1 MkIII & No1 kIII* used one of 2 or 3 safeties most of which are interchangeable. You need the 5-piece (unless you are fitting a Volley Sight) safety for a SMLE/ShtLE rifle No1 MkIII or Mk III*.
The 2 types most commonly used are either the flat or cast spring. Try to avoid the 3-part ones they aren't original & tend to be rubbish. |

The date looks like it may be 1916 to me. (Barrel date and wrist)
Seeing as it's a MkIII*it will not have the magazine cut-off; where as a 1910 would have a cut-off. A photo of the right-hand side of the receiver will clarify that.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

yes i noticed the "star" too , not a 1910 , possibly 1916 , i cannot make it out clearly nor MFGR for certain but i think its RSAF Enfield , as a III* if its a 16 they were transitioning at that time and that would put the refix into the Q-R range ,
