I am in the market for an original No4 (T), complete,a No9 complete, and believe it or not, a L39A1 complete.
If anyone has those and are willing to sell them within a reasonable price range,I will add an additional $500.00 on top of that just to make things interesting.

Goosic, I fully support your desire to add a No.4(T) to your list. Yesterday, took mine to the range for the first time in several years and fell in love with it all over again!

I see two listings for the L42A1 at $22,000 and $24,000

These are just basic set, a full kit with AWS and Scout. Reg, NATO sling and the little bits? Who knows.

Good luck shopping.

I'm willing to shuck out the monies for a No4Mk1 T,or a L39A1,that's as far as I am willing to go. I can't grasp the concept of giving someone 20-24,000 for a 308. I can buy a brand new McMillan 30-416 Tactical, fully set-up for $2500.00. My personal favorite, the Lapua.338 built around a Savage 110L Tactical can be had for $1850.00. Those two calibers alone, extremely outperform the 7.62 tenfold. I keep having this nagging thought that I should stop what I am trying to accomplish and let the No9, No4Mk1 T,and L39A1 ownership dream fade away. I made a spot on copy of the No4Mk1 T and I have, what can be referred to as fairly new and unfired Savage No4Mk1*. Wednesday I will find out how well these LE rifles perform, along with my new and unfired No4Mk2 7.62mm.

Goosic. For my .02 worth, it doesn't sound like it was meant to be. If I owned the copy you did of the T and your last project, I could die a happy man. Enjoy the fruits of your labor and talent. Someday maybe that sweet deal with happen. Then it will be right. In general, again in my humble opinion, Lee Enfield prices are somewhat currently inflated, making it a true seller's market. Patience, grasshopper...

I am reminded of my Dad selling a complete No. 4(T) sniper kit that had never been issued for $250 in the early 1990's.  That was way undervalued, even in Canada, and the individual who bought it was taking advantage of my Dad, he knew what it was really worth and he kept quiet.  Wood chest, spotting scope and all the other bits similar to the above pic of the L42.    I had no idea Dad was contemplating selling it and he had no idea I would have wanted that rifle.   That was a turning point for me, it's when I got my first No. 4 (one of Dads rifles that he had not sold yet, and the one I now shoot in matches).

Well, at least he kept his No. 4 Mk I(T) shooter with the 1958 LB six groove RH twist barrel that I recently posted about.   I'll eventually get that rifle, enjoy shooting it, and then pass it on down the line.

Gossic, these rifles won't get cheaper with age.

To the more learned people on the forum, I'm curious. Like baseball cards and vintage cars, are collectors actually buying the rifles mentioned at the prices quoted? I'm a firm believer that as a seller you ask for what YOU think it is worth. Whether you get that price is a different story. I remember seeing a complete No4 Mk1 T kit at a Gun Show here in Brandon Mb. in the late 80's. Fellow wanted $1000. Unheard of for an Enfield back then. Man, if I had a known...

Although an interesting collector's piece, the L42A1 is presently a rifle which it is fashionable to own. That accounts for much of its inflated price. Fashions come and go and I suspect that certain new owners may get their fingers burned. As a shooter it is far outclassed by the Enfield Enforcer at a fraction of the cost.

Growing up here in Phoenix,we had a little sporting goods store, Yellow Front. You could buy an Enfield in three different price ranges,$5.00,$10.00,$15.00.
I walked in with $9.95 in my pocket at ten years of age. Reached into the cardboard barrel and pulled out the rifle that would have me hooked on the No4Mk1 Enfield forever. Sporterised, missing the front sight guard,a magazine that looked like a third grade art project,L flip rear sight, and a brass buttplate corroded shut. Shot my very first mule deer that same year. I was the shooter and my dad was my scout, shouting out too high, more to the left. Three standing shots later, the muley that was in a full bore run lay dead. I completely understand the mindset of those who own the No4 T rifle, the L39A1/L42A1. I have never been able to afford a real No4 T, or a L39A1 L42A1. Yes,after alot of trial and error,I made my own T rifle, and I am very proud of that accomplishment. However,I would like to be included in the small group that have the real deal.
