When you say No1, are you referring to the Long Lee?

i was confused on this one as well , shows how important nomenclature is , unless he is speaking of some other rifle altogether .....................like a ruger ??????????????

might be a good place to put the cautionary note - remember to remove the forend from the no1 mkIII* prior to trying to remove the buttstock bolt or you will damage your forend

I guess I need a little more history on all the models.i think Im refering to the long lee the early one without the charger bridge. want to know if the action inletting is the same as a no1 mark 111.for one of my projects.want to turn a butcher job into something a bit more elegant..

I have never fitted a long lee enfield forend to a smle but from memory, the draws of the long lee stock are narrower than the smle.
Whether that would make any difference or not I dont know, but as the load would be spread over a smaller area, they may get hammered a bit more.

thats a question id never seen asked before either , we know the early mark enfeilds were cut down to SMLE length , but i suspect it involver cutting the original stocks , i think this may be a trial and error thing ,

please dont cut up a good long lee to accomplish this , there are many who would wish to have an original long lee forend
i think you should be able to get your hands on a mkIII* forend with ease for a reasonable sum

I may be able to use a mark 3 if I go with a 20 in barrel it would work.also what is the draw part of the stock?Im not familiar with that term. I was looking at the kyber pass rifles that were on the auction sites, now I can,t find them.thinking they may be adapted. just trying to find a fit long enough without having to laminate something up.
