To much fun. The Golden State Arms rifle shot perfectly. The Gibbs rifle shot perfectly also but it does not feed properly. I believe that I will have to tinker with the magazine from the Gibbs to get it to work better.
Recoil was mildly surprising. Meaning that both rifles were easy on the shoulder, even the 45-70 launching Remingtons 405 GR Soft Points. Guy I was shooting with said every time I shot the Gibbs I was laughing.

It is so much fun to shoot the 45-70, hear the bang, wait, wait, and then the slap when it hits the target. If you put a spotting scope on the target, your mate can actually watch the bullets go in.
I reload mine with lead for about 1100 to 1200 fps, can shoot all day without the sore shoulder. Ed |

Yeah that's what i love about the 45-70 Load em right back & shoot all day ! I've got a Great plate of Steel inbeded up the hill & when you take a hot at it you have time to lower the rifle before you hear the Clunk at the other end ! It's great fun with somebody that doesn't realise that it's just the bullet is going at walking pace ,as they think the plate is much further out !
