I made a happy little discovery when I went to smooth out the finish on the furniture. If you use a thin coat of Turtle Wax and #0000 steel wool, working with the grain it leaves what looks like a factory finish. I also stripped the set screw out that is hidden under the sight on the reproduction flash hider. Took some measurements and started drilling two holes into the side of it and pinned it just like an actual original one. Went over the electro stencil as well. I love sporterizing the Enfield rifle, this much is true with me but, when I can restore one and it turns out this nice, that's were I get really prideful.

Mine has a marking I don't identify.
The electro pencil is VERY lightly done It reveals: No 5 Mk 1 ROF (+) 7/46 Its the (+) I don't understand. |

I just looked at mine. Receiver electo-penciled No.5 Mk1. The steel "wrist band" (please let me know what the proper name is) has M (or 4) 4708. Below that says 1945. Below that says England. Below that says CC2433. A punch mark on an angle by the 1945 says 47. The bolt says CC2433x. Any ideas? Thanks!

The wrist band is just the rear of the receiver, I don't think I've ever heard a specific name for it.
The number would be M4709 all the No5's had 4 digit serial numbers. |

..I don't wanna know about yer "butt-socket" Canuck!! TMI
Back to the issue. Although my electro - pencil marking is very faint, the (+) seems to be quite apparent. Methinks its not a mis-strike.(Course, I could be wrong...once before I thought I was wrong - but I was mistaken.) |

Does anyone know what the CC2433 means? Or the same number followed by an x on the bolt? Also, do you think it was made in 1945? And the 47 stamp might be a refurbished date? Thanks again.
