LOL I fired them in my '43 then let the guest shoot them in the 1942. He did well.

Fair trade because he lets me shoot his funny guns.

OMG I JUST   found an ammo can with a 500 .311" 150g FMJBT's still in two bags. I think they are PRIVI which didn't return the 174g SMK accuracy but what the heck I can save my SMK's for long range.

I will have to break out the IMR 4895, if only they were flat base.....Cry

MJ, those PRVI look similar to the Sellier Bellot 180 grain boat tails. Filled with lead from the base; which the main visual difference that I see between them and the SMK's.
I found that the weight of the SB rounds vary quite a lot. Out of the first 100 that I checked; only 9 were bang on 180 grains. I ended going through the whole 500 and batching them up in bags of  equivalent weights with a tolerance of +/-0,1 grain.
They perform OK when batched; but still not quite an SMK.

I was wondering if the open end base would allow the bullets to bump up better in the bore; when compared to the SMK which is full copper? what do you think?
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

Possibly if they were flat base but the best 150's have been the Sierra 150g soft point Game Kings in .311" I get 1.5 MOA out of my '43 SMLE with my new eyes.

These run 152.3-151.6-153.0g's. Won't be wasting my 174g SMK as these will still pull 3~4 MOA It's time to shift over to IMR 4895 for the 150's.

Have a great day Zed
