Just thinkin here...y'know - when you think about it, the No9 L/E rifle seems to be a lot of rifle for a small caliber like the .22

Somethin tells me there musta bin a story there somewhere.

I doubt that a No 7 magazine will work in a No 9; the bolt heads are completely different. The British No 7 bolthead is undercut to make it possible to strip, feed and eject the much smaller-based .22LR round from the magazine.  The No 9 bolt is just the standard .303 one with an offset floating firing pin and a different extractor.

Well is you want a rifle that is exactly like your service rifle but in a miniature calibre so it's good to go in indoor ranges etc ...

Yeah - I guess. Still..mighty big shootin iron wrapped round a small round.

(As an Air Cadet-we shot same @ the Sea Cadet hall. It was indoors. S'posed to shoot the tagets @ trear of the hall. I did-first shot. They couldn't believen I hit the tack holdin the target!.Then I got REALLY bored, & wondered what it would sound like if I hit a ship's bell. I shot the bell on the "bridge" IT WAS GREAT!! Had to tell 'em it musta bin a ricochet.) Bin a long time since I thot bout that.
