Someone needs to get this, maybe. It has 1944 and M47C stamped on the butt socket. To rich for my blood at that price but for someone else,it might be worth it...

Saw  a lovely Ishapore FR rifle today.
Bore like new, and scrubbed receiver so no idea which factory made it.
Bluing was as only Ishapore could do. V nice job. all smooth as silk like a good No 1 Mk 111.

Marked on Right side of butt socket, F R over Ishapore stamp, and 1962.
was a No 4 Mk 1 and had the Ishy screw, and a lovely finish to the stock.
Mk 111 rear sight.

Went at auction for $490 Canadian, plus 10 % buyer's premium.

I liked it, but am not short of guns....

You are correct Honky Tonk. Those are the mounting points for a Mk.32 scope.

They are weird like that because the design was originally to make the scope bracket interchangeable on the Bren Gun. That never took off, but the design stayed for use with the rifle.

That would be an interesting setup.
Anyone got a pic or illustration? This is the first time I heard that little tidbit!
