Pattern '88 scabbards are VERY hard to find, usually worth more than the bayonet.

Thanks for Shawn's E-mail, fired off a message last night, see what happens.

I know they are rare, but had to ask anyway, I have run into good luck before.

I have not heard back from Shawn yet...LOL. But...and it is not the exact correct scabbard, but I ordered a Pattern-1903 Scabbard from someone on Gunboards.com. Yes, I know that is not the correct scabbard, but it will fit and I don't think having a Pattern-1903 Bayonet Scabbard is all that bad of a thing...LOL. God-willing I might actually "need it" for a Pattern-1903 Bayonet in the future. Close, but not the actual correct scabbard. I will give a report when it gets here.

I got the Pattern-1903 Scabbard in the post today. Needless to say, I am happy with it. For being a century old (not totally certain if production of the Pattern-1903 Bayonet stopped with the introduction of the Pattern-1907 Bayonet, but it has to be close to being a century old), it was in good condition. There was a bit of dust from storage that came off with a dry cloth. There was a bit of minor surface corrosion on the chape that came off with 0000 wire wool and oil. The chape retains mush of it's bluing.

For $25 (included postage), I think I got a good deal. Granted I will buy a correct Pattern-1888 Scabbard if I see one someday, but for now this will do. I would rather have an original Pattern-1903 Scabbard for a Pattern-1888 Bayonet, than modify a replica Pattern-1907 Scabbard.

I got this scabbard fro Reich's Outfitting and Trading in Las Vegas, NV., I was impressed with his pricing and honesty, odds are I will order from him again.

I already posted a photo of my Pattern-1888 Bayonet and the Pattern-1903 Bayonet Scabbard I got a couple weeks back, but here it is again. Sort of like to complete this topic I started, plus now that I got this photo posting thing sussed out, I am getting some practice...LOL.

Now if I only could find a Pattern-1903 Bayonet and Pattern-1888 Bayonet Scabbard, then both the bayonet and scabbard in the photo would be complete and correct...LOL. Then find a Lee-Metford or Long Lee-Enfield Rifle...LOL. That will be a long time coming though.
