Hope everyone in Florida and Southeast US is safe and under shelter. Irma was a pretty nasty storm. Right on the heels of Harvey, southern USA has been hard hit.

Prayers for a quick recovery.

I just heard from the last of my Fla friends. Some minor property damage but everyone is OK. My buddies in St Thomas are fine but their ships (they run a travel tour day cruise outfit) took a bit of a beating.

I have heard from friends in Naples who stayed.  They faired well, home and all.  No surge was the key.
Lots of palms down.  Damage to homes in some areas that were built before Andrew.
Though they got power last night the town is mostly without.  No gas.  Grocery stores are reopening.
Much worse on the E coast because of flooding.
A lot of decimation in the keys.
We were going to drive down this Sunday, but postponing a month now.  I would not have stayed thru such a storm.

For this Storm Irma, I was in Pascagoula Ms. , Right on the very outer edge of the storm... we got a little of the wind , but no rain !!!!  he!! we go more rain off of Harvey than we got from Irma, and the outer bands of Irma came over us !!!!
I have a Lady friend down in Coral Springs who got her power back the day after land fall !!!  thats damn good !!!
just glad it didnt come up and hit New Orleans like  Katrina did , I would have had to buy a chainsaw to get home !!!!!!
We had to cut our way out after Katrina and Gustave ......  and I think Rita !!!

Ontario Hydro has sent 50 bucket trucks & crews to assist.(We'll see if homeland security pulls the same stunt as Katrina).
The governor requested it

They've pretty much stripped our area of lineman crews. Last time they did that, back in 2012, we had a storm two days after they left and were out of power for 10 days.
