Well I finally got to the range with my French Resistance No4Mk1. The paperwork was finally completed last week. As you may recall from my post about the rifle back in May; it's a 1944 Maltby made No4Mk1 That was parachuted to the local Resistance fighters in the Eure and Loir region of France.  Having inspected it carefully over the summer I was impressed by the way it had been stored over the 70 odd years since WWII. It is in excellent health.
For the first 5 shot's; I made the mistake of leaving my prescription len's in my new safety glasses. (I normally use those only for pistol shooting, so I can see the front sight more clearly) But for the rifle it makes the target too blurred. I aimed at the 6 ring expecting it to hit a little higher; the first 5 shots were reasonable, but not great. I removed the prescription len's and found the sight and target image more compatible.

Second set of 5 aimed directly at the bull. Very happy with the result. Nice group of 4 and 1 below.
Only 50 metre range obviously, but with standard PPU ammo; I am very happy. My daughter (age 6) was using the spotting scope. When i got home she asked me for an air rifle for Christmas.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

Nice.
Did you hear about the resistance cache discovered under the floor with the Stens, Mills & L-E's?

Nice to see the old rifle shoots good. It is also always nice to continue hearing of your daughter's growing interest. What a great way for the two of you to spend time together.
