For 1918 No. 1 MKIII?  I currently have what looks to be an ATI version that came with with the rifle and no matter how much I tighten the rear hex screws it'll pop off with a jar on the workbench not even shooting on the range.  So I'm looking for direction for a solid Weaver type scope mount base that will stay put on the receiver.  There's nothing worse than losing your scope on the range or on the field.    Thanks

My opinion that the 'no gunsmith' mounts for the Sht.LE are crap, to put it bluntly.

The only way to seriously mount a scope onto a Mk.III is by drilling and tapping holes to bolt the sucker on!

Side mounts require holes in the receiver wall. Top mount ones require holes in the charger bridge and the receiver ring.

There is one more out there, but I'm having a brain freeze. It uses a clamp on the bridge and a metal band under the receiver ring. No drilling, just a tiny bit of wood relieved for the strap. S&K?

I like the Weaver TO-1 unit for my hunting rifle, solid as a rock. But requires three drilled & tapped holes.

I think you got it with the S&K. Give them a call they're very helpful.
