Hi Guys
Can someone advise me which of these books I should be buying in order to increase my overall knowledge of the Lee Enfield series and in particular the various .22 training rifles. Any advice on the best sources would be appreciated. The British Service Lee: Lee-Metford and Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines 1880-1980 The Lee-Enfield A Century of Lee-Metford & Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines Lee-Enfield Story: A Complete Study of the Lee-Metford, Lee-Enfield, S.M.L.E. and No.4 Series Eddie |

Now you ask :) I hope they recommend "A century of.." as I just bought a copy to research my No 4. It is a pretty hefty book that is going to take me a while to get through.

Thank you. Opinions seem to differ on which is the most up to date version. Not all catalogues give the date of publication.

the "bible" of our rifles is skenerton's "The Lee Enfield Story" , its a bit spendy but worth every penny , there is nothing wrong with the others , the more you have the more options you have for looking , but this is the ONE if you will only have one ,
i have quite a few in my library these days so i tend to recommend more as the way to go , but then i collect blades as well and in the past had more than this one focus , luckily i narrowed it

I only have "The Lee Enfield Story" so can't comment on the others; but this one is excellent.
Plenty of info on the .22 trainer's as well. |

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

Since it is a reference book I thought to go rent it from the library. No such luck, eBay has a copy for $67, some go as high as $300. I put in a request for the library to by it. We will see what happens.

I bought mine new about 4 years ago in the UK for 50 pounds; which is probably around 70 US dollars.
Although postage from UK could be expensive. I got it from Jeremy Tenniswood Militaria inColchetser. He has most of the Skennerton books in stock.

That could be true it would disappear from the library, but if they get it on my request ,I would be the first to get it.
