Goosic,

I note you are using my favourite powder in the above load!  Brilliant in t he .303.

Hoadie,

Ancient but clean ammo still turns up.  I like the Dominion brass better than Imperial.

Used some 1927 ammo a year or two ago.  Groups were Slightly more open, but went off like new.

In the late '70's, my brothers girlfriend (now ex-wife) her dad was a Colonel in the Reserves. He had CASES of 303 ammo in his basement, and he didn't shoot! Me and my brother must have shoot hundreds and hundreds of the FMJ's! Good times!

I've used the Woodleigh #68 215-grain RN with both my No. 4 MKI and No. 5 sporters with excellent results, both accuracy and at the terminal end.

Ranch life here in South Texas demands that you spend a bunch of time killing feral hogs. One of my most memorable kills was with the No. 5 shortly after I sighted in the rifle with the heavy Woodleigh, right here at my house. I have a feeder that is 70 yards from my back porch and late one night there was a very large boar out there tearing it up. I went out the back door and dumped it with the Woodleigh. I mean dumped it. The bullet picked the hog up off its feet and dumped it about three to five yards from where it was standing!

It was a short night and the next day I had to drive my Mom the 200 miles up to Houston and back for an appointment at a hospital. When I got back, I noticed that there were buzzards in the brush behind the feeder. I was surprised to find a hog, equally as large, dead!

It was about 40 yards from where the first hog had been, about 15 yards of that dense thorn brush. The previous night I was a bit curious about the large entrance hole on the first hog, look at that picture good, and a bit concerned that the Woodleigh had failed on impact with the hog's shield. I couldn't believe that especially in light of the other boar DRT further back. I did a bit of CSI and found some amazing results.

I have pens around the feeder so I can keep the hogs out and let the deer jump in. When I want a hog, I open a "gap" in the hog panels. The Woodleigh impacted a steel post before hitting the first hog!

The bullet kept on its intended path even though it passed through the post! It went completely through the first hog and the second hog. It penetrated the second hog after it went through the trunk of a 4" mesquite tree, chopping it down, 10 yards in front of it! You can see the top part of tree laying across the rib cage of the second hog.

The Woodleighs are about 50ยข more per bullet than any other offering, but if you need some killing authority, I think you will find it in the #68!
