It is not "Speedy" but, it will hit you with a ton of energy at 100 yards. I did this test standing just to show the bullets potential without the aids of a post or bench. The load tested used the 180grn Speer Hot Cor RN and was loaded on top of 37.3grns of IMR3031. The C.O.L. is 3.031".
It was not too warm and rainy with the sun coming out sporadically. I would take a shot and then set the rifle down and walk the length of the benches, come back and fire the rifle again. This kept the heart rate and breathing elevated to simulate actual hunting conditions. If anyone is considering a good all-around hunting round, this would be it... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That's some good shooting there Goosic. When I was younger and an avid hunter I practiced doing the very same thing you did knowing that when I was about to take a shot the adrenaline would be flowing causing increased respiration rate.

Thank you. The exercise was to mimic an actual hunt just as you stated with the adrenaline and increased respiration while also tuning the rifle to the ammunition. The target as shown represents the heart of a Mule Deer @ 100 yards. The terrain where I typically hunt is covered in granite,Pinon and scrub pine with the best open shot at just under 100 yards. The 180grn Bumble Bee makes for a perfect projectile in the "Brush." The group will also fit in the palm of your hand which to me, is as good as it is going to get. To truly mimic an actual hunt however, I needed to trip over good size rock and spook a covey of Quail out of a thicket...
