Looking forward to this movie. Not a whole lot of movies in regards to WW1. There was a Canadian one a few years ago called Passchendaele which I thought was pretty good.

I had it on DVD. I thought it was one of the worst movies I had seen (General opinion in my Gun Club) so I found someone I didn't like and gave it to himLOL

Bummer. It doesn't look like my local theatre will be showing 1917. I checked even well into 2020 and nada. But there are plenty of great movies being screened! Jumanji, Little Women, Star Wars and a couple of animated ones! (Extreme sarcasm in the last sentence.)

HT: You must be living in some backwater place...everyone has seen all those movies - & not in the theater, either!

1917 is high on my list and is supposed to be in the local outlets in the next 10 days or so. My wife and I don't go that often and are looking forward to it.

regards....roger

Watched Passchendaele last night.

I give it a ten stars.

Know I can see how a Ross would not work in WWI.

The movie "Passchendaele"and "1917"are the best movies I have seen this year. Saw "They shall not grow old" last December and also enjoyed that movie as well.

Anyone know any more good ones?

The original "All is quiet on the Western Front" from 1930 is very good. There doesn't seem to be a lot of movies made about WW1. I watched one several years ago on TV. The Lost Battalion. Pretty good. I see you can watch it on YouTube... I'm still looking for a documentary series that was made for TV by a Canadian historian. It was several parts and very well made. Called, if I remember, something like "For King and Country." I was hoping to get the DVD set, if available.

Paddy: If you can get it on the inter-web try KOKODA. Its true story. Australian made. Wasn't released in the States. Really well done..without alot of the Hollywood hype. You'll over-amp on Enfields in this one!!

The firs five minutes of Passchendaele was enough for me. Switched it off.
