I'll have to keep an eye out for more of these when we get back to having the village "brocante" sales again. As France was being liberated, a lot of stuff was traded for bottles of wine or spirit's by the GI's.
Also when the returned to the USA after the war a load of material was left behind. Lot's of Jeeps and trucks etc. 
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

In the Pacific alot of stuff was left behind on those smaller islands..cuz it was cheaper to leave 'em than recover them
