good advice men.

haven't even been to the range yet.  last couple days spent getting ready for the tropical storm that was supposed to become a hurricane and thankfully did not.  land fall was 10 minutes north of my house early this am.  only got to about 60mph though.  spent the day today undoing my wind prep and cleaning up.  property this morning was littered with branches and palm fronds.

must fish tomorrow, always good right after a big storm.   here are my flats skiffs tied down in anticipation of high winds.  been thru 6 or 7 hurricanes and I don't take chances.  they are unpredictable.

glad you missed the worst of it or what could have been , glad your safe , im also glad to hear you have occupied the time positively , you also seem to have a good grasp of the prep - id not even know where to begin , im thinking to move south in retirement and wondering if i have that in me , i spend a lot of my year dealing with the mowing and storm cleanup here but it is different - i tend to prepare for winters cold and snow removal , its what i know ,

perhaps i need to look closer to home with what i know - ive always thought south dakotas fair taxes would be to my liking , perhaps i need to look closer to that than the nostalgia of returning south to my roots - i only have the years of age left and they are numbered much less than when i was young and chose to move here , never regretted that choice till i retired and looked at what this state taxes , fixed income does that to you ,

I'm 67 and still able to handle 2 1/2 acres of maint in florida.  the storms are just routine after all these years.  you put everything that can be picked up by the wind inside, I tie down boats, a/c condensers, my enclosed trailer, wood pile.  if it is really high wind expected I install shutters on all windows and doors.  I made shutters years ago out of 1/2" CDX.  you can lose power for days to weeks so have to be prepared for that.  one of my sons is in southern cal with earthquakes and firestorms so not sure which is worse.

Good that the storm weakened before landfall.  At least you were well prepared just in case.
Looking forward to a range report when you get time. We are locked down so our club's are closed at the moment.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

well it was fun to get out on the water today.  temps in the 70's, almost no wind.  couple of the better ones today.  no fish were harmed in the making of...ok, well I kept the redfish for dinner.

glad your getting to enjoy the aftermath - the news said otherwise , but then i no longer believe the news - its just propaganda ,

funny how low our media has sunk , its basically no different than the communist government media of the 60s-70s , they spew the party line and spin the rest , there is no truth anymore , no research and checking , no verification , just the crap of the left to make us commies , im so sick of it that i can not help saying it anymore - i remember berlin , i dont know first hand but know of the gulags that were no different than the nazi concentration camps , anyone that embraces communism needs to look at history , nuf said

it's the takeover that has been in the works since the 1950's.  they call themselves socialists but we know better.  imprisonment and worse of dissenters always follows.  look at the history of every country taken over by marxists.

Cool tool for front site adjustment! I as at buddies yesterday. He had a valve stem removal cap from when they put them on valve stems. Found some threaded rod that it could screw on too, double nutted it and tacked a Tee handle on the end!

I actually have a hex key ground to fit the slot in my "goodie bag" that goes to the range with me too. It just fits inside the bits of my old Midway gunsmiths screwdriver set. I've replaced the el-cheapo plastic end cap with a brass plumbing end cap so it doubles as a small hammer!
I admit I have never needed it, but others have & I like to be that helpful RSO, not the "Range Nazi". That's why I take 3/4 of the stuff I do in a giant toolbox!

are you talking about the fact that my rifle does not have the fore-sight set screw?  is that an enfield production thing?

nope - not at all , i was rereading the entire thread and noticed that armorer had noted the original reference to enfield production of the PF serialed mk2 and simply wanted to reinforce his statement - its a fazakerly rifle , not an enfield made rifle , all of the mk2s came out of fazakerly , it seemed o have been glossed over in our usual banter ...which is all good and fun , just important to note ,

There isn't a Mk3 to my knowledge, just a 1/2 or a 1/3, both conversions to Mk2 std from a Mk1 or a Mk1*
In the older SMLE/ShtLE there was a Mk III
