Hope your range is open!
We are all closed up in France at the moment.

Fortunately, most ranges here in the south East are open. This week was supposed to be the Annual Talladega 600 matches, running all this week and into the weekend.
I was all ready to shoot the M1 Garand match, Vintage Military Rifle match (shooting my No. 4) and the Modern Military Match shooting my AR Service Rifle. But alas, they cancelled the matches because the 600 yard target line is still down from the last storm and the parts did not arrive in time. These are targets fitted with electronic acoustic sensors that determine the bullet point of impact.
I did get to shoot in several matches last weekend including a 600 yard combined F-Class and Service Rifle match (on paper targets), so can’t complain. 60 rounds plus sighters, felt like a marathon to get thru it all. |

awesome you can even see the target at 600 yds without a scope. I'm starting to struggle at 100 lol.

devrep, I’m looking forward to a range report. Very nice looking rifle. Does it have a 5 groove barrel?
Seeing the target at 600 yards is no more difficult than seeing the target at 100 yds, unless of course you post a SR-1 100 yard target at 600 yds! In NRA High Power Rifle and CMP Service Rifle competitive shooting, the diameter of the black “bull” aiming mark is proportional to the range and designed to be used with open or aperture sights. |

me too - im a scope guy beyond the 60-100 and not a competitor on those iron sights anymore save my cowboy action - when i cant see the big targets at 10 to 20 ill give up the competitions all together for now i still have a place to shoot and have fun ,

Don't forget the targets get bigger the further away you are! 4' X 4' or even 5' X 5' is normal at long range!

I would love to have some place to shoot 300 to 400 yards safely.

Same. Our range does have a 200, but it's behind the 100 so that closes down while people shoot the further distance.

we also have 200 - no shutting down , its capable of 400+ but it shuts down everything as your shooting from 200+ behind the shooting line , been years since that was used - think the last time was when ted nugent came to pick up his rifle , been around a lot of interesting things here over the years ,

My club has a 150 yds. And that's more than enough for my hunting purposes. But would like to challenge my old eyes with the iron sites.

I’m fortunate, there are three ranges that are an hour from my house. One goes out to 600, one out to 300 and the other to 200 yds. On the 300 and 200 yard ranges, we shoot reduced size targets that simulate the SR 300 and MR 600 yard targets.
The Talladega Marksmanship Park is about an hour and a half away and worth the drive to shoot on the 200, 300 and 600 yard electronic targets, no pit duty and no need to shut down the firing line to score/paste/change targets, very efficient.

Locally in MD 200 is it. There's a big one South of here in Va, but they had some issues so I avoid them. They got into a frivolous lawsuit & rolled over when they were badgered for membership info. They released it! I have friends in PA, North of here that go to 550yds on private land.

I handled a .22 version today, was a No1 Mk 3 style. had AM mark which I was told was for Air Ministry.
was in well worn furniture but pretty cool. almost $900.00 though. yikes.

All the .22 Lee Enfield trainer's are great fun and are also a good investment.
They do cost more than the .303's
