I was looking thru the 2022 National Matches results for the Garand, Springfield and Vintage Military Rifle matches that concluded yesterday.  Turn out was slightly down compared to last year.  Probably due to a combination of Covid and the economy.

261 entries in the Vintage Military Rifle match.  11 shooters made the cut for Gold medal score (280+) which was 4% of the shooters.  Only three shooters scoring 100 in prone slow fire.  High score in standing was 94.  Looked like only a handful of Lee Enfield rifles.  High score was 288, not particularly high, perhaps poor weather conditions.

What did you score? Where you in the National final?
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

Zed, I've not competed in the Nationals.  A few reasons, mostly because of the long trip to Ohio and my intolerance to laying out in the hot sun in high humidity with a shooting coat (the range is on the south shore of Lake Erie).  It is on my list to go do soon, before I get too old!  Talking to those I know who have been there many times, it's exhausting.  Very early starts, long walking distances between ranges; a lot of competitors.  In some years, there have been over 1,000 competitors shooting the M1 match alone!

I like to look over the match results and give me an idea where I might place.  If I had a good day, I'd be in the running...
