I have no idea how to use this forum but I’ve recently inherited .303 FTR 1954 No.4 Mk. 1/2 A145** and would really love to know anything about it. Everything I found on google was Mk 1 or 2 but not 1/2.

Welcome to the forum.
Your No4 MK1/2 started life as a No4 MK1 and was modified to the MK2  specifications during it's service life. Probably at the 1954 FTR,( Factory Thorough Repair).
From your serial number, it was made by  the Maltby factory in the UK.

IIRC 1954 was the FTR (Factory rebuild) overhaul & conversion date, the original manufacturing date is probably several years earlier. It may be stamped on the barrel if you go looking for it.

I think the "A" prefix would indicate an early wartime build date.
Maybe Bear can confirm that.

he can if he drops in - he has my reference books that can date that rifle , i did not keep data on these as i thought putting it in the proper hands would allow that to still be available , he has great interest in the maltby rifles as we all know , i suspect he will chime in when the time allows , i know he is busy with life these days as most of us have been in our lives , the entire serial number will help him date your rifle with less he can get close
