New member, own four  Enfields (#2A, 2-#3's & #4) & several bayonets.  Ran across an apparent factory conversion of a #3 to a single shot  .410 gauge shotgun, dated 195x, in good condition.  Anyone know anything about these, rarity, or value? Thanks, Foxie

Not rare, the good ones were made in India.  Several were converted in England, not very well and not considered very good.  Value runs from $100.00 to $200.00.  Original chamber is just over 2 inches,  Springfield Sporters, the original importer, reamed a LOT of them out to 3 inch chambers.  The collector wants the original chamber, the shooter wants the 3 inch chamber.  No difference in value.

These .410s were known as fire flies and as it has been stated were converted in India ! They are quite common in Australia  . But when I was a kid most of us had single barrel .410s  ,to own a Fire Fly was to be akin to a god in our eyes

Thanks for the info. Was hoping for more info, so waited to post back.  First one that I have seen here in central Illinois. Went ahead and bought it, although at high end of price range given, but very good condition.  Thanks again

India began converting No.1's to the 410 for riot/crowd control . These will use fireformed .303brass loaded with shot , slug or whatever . Singleshot and the magwell is fitted with a wood plug which is also the loading ramp . They're not really rare and can be found at reasonable prices.
