I field tested my newest member of my Lee Enfield family today. The rifle operated perfect. I shot a pretty nice 3" group @ 100 yds, but was high with scope dialed down a low a possible. The front pad needs a thicker block (shim) under the dove-tail. It's on the way! It was really fun to shoot even with the iron sites.

The range was packed yesterday with people sitting in their black powder rifles for opening day today, but I did get a chance to shoot my new No1 at the 25 yd range. The shim seems to have done the trick as it now shoots where I think it should, at least at 25 yds. I was very impressed with the gentleman who built the rifle. He had forgot to give me the screw in scope lens covers so he sent me those along with a period correct sling and a hand made leather replica leather scope case. I did hang out in his shop for a bit and learned some stuff. He had two more No1 Mk3 sniper clones almost complete and three No4 sniper clones ready for customers. I got to heft one of those. I like!!!

Thanks guys. Most I ever paid for a rifle and I probably won't put 20 rounds thru it a year, but, In my mind, it's keeping the Enfield name alive! At least in southern Manitoba! The person who built it is a true gentleman, and in my mind, a master craftsman at putting many old Lee Enfields that were destined to be trashed back in full (albeit not original) military kit for people who love these old battle horses.

I had fun reading this thread - congratulations on 40 years - and the "new" rifle.  I'm right with you - so what if its a little expensive. Wink
