Well Fleet Farm (One of the not so local box stores)  ran an add in the paper a few Sundays back advertising MkI Enfield for $119.  So I was in Brainerd the other day(The place where the movie "Fargo" was filmed)  So I decided to stop in.  I promptly headed for sporting goods after checking out the footwear section for some new laces for my boots.  Anyway I got there the mil-surp guns are kept behind the glass in a turn style type thingy-ma-bob.  I quickly found the Enfields among the lot.  Well I should have said the singular as there was only one.  Okay I thuoght I'm here now I mine as well look it over. I discovered it was not a No.1 MkI as I had though but a No.4 MkI.  Well all right the price was still in the ball park (I thought)  Well then I looked at the tag.  The price was not $119 as had been advertised but rather $129.  Well fine that was one thing. I looked over the stock had a big chip missing from it right behind the barrel band.  The "nose cap" was rusted up and pitted.  I could only imagine what the bore looked like.  I said screw it. I paid for my laces and laces and left.

The local hardware store has a No.4MkI full military hardware for $169.  The price is a litte on the high side, but it is in very good condition.  No cracks or chips in the wood. The metal is clean w/original finish and best of all NO RUST.  So maybe it make it worth a little more. Who knows/  But anyway that is how I spent my week end.  I came up bust on locating aother Enfield.  I'm looking for a No.1 either a MkI or MkIII.  So far no luck.

I've seen the future and I don't like it.

I could be cruel here & point out were I can lay my hands on any number of Mk3's but I won't  as apparently the Australian Customs have banned the export of rifles out of Australia ! (we can bring em in but not send em out ?????)
