I just got through reassembling my No 4 Mk 2 after linseed oiling the crap out of all the wood parts. I get it all assembled and find I have a floppy rear sight assembly. So I tap out that microscopically small retaining pin, unscrew the rear sight pin, and find that the plunger spring has broken into six short and very small pieces. Thus the sight is floppy.
Ordered two of them plus an extra one of those tiny little retaining pins from Numrich, but this really sucks. That rifle was new when I got it, apparently never seeing any sort of use after its production in 1955.

That is very odd and unheard of, at least to me!

That is extremely unusual. I have never seen that plunger break before. Next time you need bits, just post in the WTB board. I have a couple of those plungers and would have sent one to you. Lots of us have bits to help each other out with.

This was not the plunger itself, but This was not the plunger itself, but the spring. The plunger's still okay.
