but oi dont collect - i accumulate , ive given a lot away over the years , sometimes in quantity and sometimes as singles but ive parted with a great many over the years , ive bought very few , most of mine were gifted by family , friends , and business acquaintances ,

as im not a collector i do sharpen most of mine - i have a couple i carry every day , been sharpened many times , the two i cary mosyt always are both kershaw folders - they lock , one has a slight assist neither would be considered expensive or collecto grade as my better has a piece missing in one scale and the other is heavily used with blade wear , there is a knife on every bag i own some are there for a reason as the fillet knives on my fishing bags , some are on camping bags because the have blades i use cutting meat/bread/chese , and there are two on hunting bags ive not used in years but they will clean a kill for cooking

there are some on my shooting bages that are there because they may be needed to fix an issue or have done so in the past , i do have a smalll knife on each gunbelt - those were gifts as well and way to nice to give away , they are bling in my mind , then there is my letter opener - an NRA gift and my garage knife that was one of my BILs that i found cleaning out the MOLs garage , its been used in the garden vut it serves its purpose , a pocket knife i carried as a high school kid and a couple truck knives - one has a bottle opener and cork screw thats come in handy the other is kept sharp for defense - its accessible as is a gun ,

he bayonets are all as made - never sharpened and even the rare one that is worth a lot is kept with its rifle as is from 1910

Same here A square, I've bought a few but accumulated many from trades, ammo boxes I bought at flea markets full of odds and ends, some were gifts and a few I bought for hunting.  I especially enjoy American knives that were actually made in America before shipping manufacturing to Japan or elsewhere.  I have a Buck 110 folder that my older brother (may he RIP) gave me for my 16th birthday 55 years ago.

I'm not a collector, but when I was a kid, I had a small collection of pen knives and a couple of sheath knives.
I bought a Kershaw pocket knife when in the USA last year. Not the expensive model, but it's a nice discreet size.
I also have a Bowie knife made in Sheffield UK. I bought it in 1979, with one of my first pay packets. I found it in some stuff I had in storage at my Mother's house, when she passed.
It has never been used for anything, and never even put on a belt.
I have a UK made replica Fairburn Sykes fighting knife, I would love to own an original, but it will have to wait for now.
Also I have a few bayonets, one that gets plenty of use, is a French Rosalie from WW1, it's been shortened, and is used as a fire poker. It was gifted by a neighbour, who found it in his loft.

I have a few. a Puma White Hunter. A replacement for the original lost many moves ago.
A 10 1/2" Kukri, military full tang style & a nice Damascus copy of the White hunter that was custom made for me in Nepal.
These are "working knives to me & so they are all sharp.
I also have the correct bayonets for the Lithgow SMLE, An Orange Arsenal Pat '07 in the matching scabbard, & the No4 's No7 Mk1 Land service with the oddball swiveling socket.
These I consider collectables & so remain un-sharpened.

Here's a photo of the fire poker Rosalie bayonet. Very handy in winter.
It sit's in a WW2 155mm US she!! case by the fire.
It was shortened at some time, because the original tips were thin and can bend or break.

No, the one in the barn wall, would be from the Prussian / French war of 1870-71. There was a major battle not too far from where we are. So that one would probably be a battle field pick up from that era, the barn would be end of 19th century or very early 20th.
The Rosalie came from my neighbour, it was in the attic of the farmhouse.

I do have a few Fairbairn-Sykes commando knives. Not collecting, just an accumulation.

One of my FS knives was supposedely a PX purchase by a soldier from the Falkland's war. It has 1977 etched on the blade. All original with the proper stamps, crossed keys, etc. VERY sharp! The other 3 are purchases made online and they are/were the current issue with all the markings on the finger guard.
