Going to a local estate auction on Saturday, the gentleman had a plethora of firearms including some old enfields.
Will be bidding on the enfields and sharps rifles, will post pics if I have any luck.
Cheers

Even if you don't win make sure and let us know what all you saw there. You never know what you will find at estate sales.

Cos ya just never know!

Just thought that I would mention that I am on the hunt  for an eight round single stack magazine for a Mk.I Lee Metford circa 1889, 90, 91.

I love farm and estate auctions. I look for the cardboard boxes full of assorted 'junk' from when they cleared off his workbench and drawers.

Willing to give right arm or left nut for it (right nut already sold to buy the rifle).

Bon chance!

Well the Auction was quite fun even with the torrential down pour that lasted most of the morning.
As far as the rifles go, well lets just say most were unfinished projects to say the least, pretty much the left overs his son didnt care for.
No single stack mags.
The 3 rifles I was after were a BSA 1917 No1 Mk111* miss-matched except for the rear sight and receiver. A mint complete Enfield Martini 1884 MkIV.I .557/450, big bucks so no go, I stopped at $650.
The last  was an S(stevens/savage?) Enfield sported, non matching bolt and no mag, got that one.

But the treasure for me for the day was a complete Wilkenson F&S fighting knife S#R150459, with the initials O.R. scratched in the scabbard, very cool been looking for ever for one of these, not many around.
So ya a fun day had by all, the wife even bought some girly goodies for around the house and garden.... Approve
Cheers

OK so after cleaning up the enfield a bit, its not terrible, so maybe I`ll attempt a restoration.
It has a  2 grove barrel well with in spec, a little dark but overall very good.
90% of the original finish. Non matching bolt, but spaced within tolerance...
No date No4 Mk1* serial No. indicates late 1943? 4 digits after the C (93C9063)
B marked, British inspected...?
No FTR
Muzzle, crown/NP 18.2 tons, 303" 22" oa barrel length 25.25"
Knox form top marked S
Right side of breech side ways crown over `England`
Flaming bomb ordinance marks
300-600 yard L sight
Wide front barrel band, S marked.
Brass butt plate, top shows what appears to be a rack No. and 3 R. E. (Royal Engineers ?)

So to restore I`ll require top wood, fore stock, rear and middle bands, magazine, front sight protector, and maybe a stacking stake or swivel,
My best bang for my bucks would be Apex, but unfortunately they will not ship to Canada.
I can order from all over but prefer to order from 1 maybe 2 places to save shipping costs.
The only sticking point is a decent fore stock that doesn`t cost an arm and a leg, any help or suggestion with that would be appreciated.

Very cool knife! I also looked into buying something similar, but being Canadian, was looking for a V42 (of Devil's Brigade). Prices were out of my league so I settled for the Boker replica. It is a nice knife, with the arrow Head patch and death sticker included. Nowhere near original, and missing the history, but I like it.

Yes these knives are quite pricey these days, but I got this for a decent price, I guess....., wants and needs eh.... Stern Smile the last few REAL WW11 originals I`ve seen were near $4-600cdn.
The V42 has stacked leather handle, correct?, its next on my list, I luv knives and the collection, mostly hunting and pocket, keeps growing.

Yup. Looks just like my Boker. I have big meaty paws but am impressed how natural this handle feels in them.
