MIDLAND!? You call THAT northern Ontario??!! It aint bin considered "Northern" for years! Its regarded by most as CENTRAL, now.Midland...humph!
My kin are still there...Midland,the Harbour,Penetang,Pt.McNicol.My late Grandmother's place was just across the trestle & up a tad from the old Bougois in the Harbour...course that place burned down afore you was around. Can almost see the Martyr's Shrine from me Grandma's place

LMAO Hoadie Hoadie Hoadie, As far as the best Fishing in Canada that a pretty bold statement, Kawartha thru the Penetang region has some excellent Bass, walleye and Pike fishing(I have fished them all).  But as far as Trout and Salmon go BC Reigns Supreme!!!!!  We won't even get into Saltwater fishing.

I dont use my enfields for hunting ( cant here in Michigan unless i get a 5 round mag) I use my Mosins or Mausers. Its hard to find something that the  worlds longest serving military cartridge in the world wont cure, good ol' 7.62x54r, may not be the flattest but its pretty awesome against large game (deer-bear) Ive gotten a couple Michigan whitetail with it.

Its all about shot placement. As long as you make a good hit, that animal is not gonna be around for long.

We have mag laws here in Ontario/Canada aas well. I found that the Lee Enfield & the M-1 Garand are BOTH EXEMPT from our magazine laws. Most folks here never took the time to find that out & drilled holes & put rivets thru they're 10 round magazines.I get pretty upset with that.(& I'm usually found in a dark back room drillin 'em out later!!)
You'll find they want your 1st born & left nut for a 5 round mag.(25 yrs ago NOBODY wanted 'em & they couldn't GIVE 'em away!!) Course-if a guy needs more than 5 rounds to dispatch his quarry...mister-I dont think he's much of a hunter.

At the moment, we do not have a magazine restriction where you are allowed to use a rifle.
Although, when the underbrush gets really dense, I carry a 12-ga double coach gun (6 pounds), with HOT slug loads in both barrels. That does "kill at one end and maim at the other". Ouch

Laughing at Smokey, C'mon Hoadie you have never been charged by a full platoon of white tails LOL
I find my 10 rounder to be convenient in persuading the Grizzly bear that said bison or moose belongs to me!!!!!!!!

As don't know why I didn't pick up on this earlier but isn't there a mi bullet wait for bison in ONT?
we have one in BC bullet weight must be 175gn and it has to retain 2000ft/lbs @ 100m
