Do the mags really work?

Bren mags are cheap, try it! You can get then for $8/ea from Sarco (or $2/ea if you buy 200). I would expect you'd have to put a stronger spring in, maybe download to 25 rounds or so.

I doubt it the Bren magwell is a good bit bigger than the Lee Enfield. IF (big IF) you can find one the Charlton semi-auto ones for the No1 might work.

they ended up making a modified magazine well on the charltons to use the bren mags.
Originally they were going to use the larger trench magazines but then found these were as rare as unicon poop. the bren mags did suffer from weal springs when feeding upwards
