We store the Roos at the end of the night (depending on the temp) In large Chillers that are emptied weekly ! Great care & attention has to be payed to  the Preperation of the carcase including  Bleeding ,& the Kidneys ,Liver & heart & lungs must  be left in place for the Health inspectors . Since 2000 we have had to be qualified in Game Handling & preperation,Vehicles have to pass a accreditation yearly & failure to keep within the guide lines result in hefty fines or loss of licence. This includes Rejected Roos  through spoilage ,Gut shots ect !

I normally meanda within a 200km radius of the Chiller . On a very Hot night I limit myself to 20 Roos Max at a time or roughly 6hrs between visits .

The going price is $00.75 per Kg (dressed in the chiller) .I stay out until Ive shot 1.2 tonne per night ! My best nght ever is 2.7 tonne ,worst nights are 0, blown tyres ,bogged ,wind blowing a gale ,Rain , Spooked Roos! I have a personal condition of 5 straight misses & I pack it in & go back home or to camp! This is not to say I don't miss (I do with regluar annoiance)  But if you8 gewt out there & miss the first 5 shots you're out of pocket ! It's a sure sign of it's not going to be a good night out !

AL ! It's worse than most people think ! 2 yrs ago 21 shooters went bust around Port Augusta alone ! THis was caused through the Railways & Electiricity Trust privitizing & a lot of big Payouts! Everybody thought that Roo shooters had the life ! Too many shooters working for to few Roos ! Once again us lifers were forced to move out on to our  Farthest ,properties ! Some Processors pay as little as $00.42 per kg & charge 6cents per kg to get someone to clean the chiller (the .6 comming out of the .42 )

To the aspiring Roo shooter take into consideration . Courses ,900-1000 dollars , Licence  $750.00 Pa , Vehical accreditation $300 per yr , Vehical  $45,000+ , Rifle & scope $2000+ Reloading gear & Barrels 2000 per year , Tax ? up to $00.42 in the Dollar + 12% GST on everything ! Tray $2000 +  Yep I make 80,000 pa on Paper then everybody gets their cut ! Yes I can write most things off on my Tax But ,at the end of the Day I'm just making a living !
