Well m8 - these guys I'm goin to see, claim they will have 3 operationa Brens by June.(apparently they have 2 in the organization now - with a Vickers!!)
They're re-enactors doin WW II.(Theys tryin to recruit me) They're doin Canadian Argyll & Sutherlands. My late uncle was the "Bren Man" for his reserve unit in the 50's. Hearing what he had to say & listenin to some of the vets @ my legion talk bout the Bren,I KNOW I've missed out on something great! I didn't think I'd ever get the opportunity to shoot one(See sensless Canadian Laws), but now-it looks like the "firearm Fairy" has just crapped all over me!! If the "buzz" is N E thing like the half inch,it may leave me with a woody!!(Not a bad thing @ my age.) It may even come in handy - It's the wife's anniversary today. Hoadie |

Dave - it stands for Curio & Relic. It's merely a FFL that allows collectors to purchase firearms that are older than 50 years and are either bolt or semi-auto. There are a couple other stipulations as well, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. From what I understand, most serious collectors in the US have one. I have never bothered getting one in the past because I live in the most liberal state in the WORLD! Man, I gotta move. Eric |

Dave, let me clarify a bit. If we want to purchase a gun we have to go
to a store or individual with a class I FFL. They sell the gun, do the
gov't paperwork and hold it for the 10 day waiting period for the
police background check.
With the C&R license, Eric will be able to purchase curio and relic firearms ( generally over 50 yrs old) directly from the wholesalers and have them delivered to him. No waiting period, mark up or additional fees. He will also be able to purchase items directly at shows. Some of the items that qualify would make no sense under your laws, like a CZ-52 semi auto pistol. (Eric, my C&R buddy got home last night and had a boxed mauser on the doorstep, they just left it there, no signature or anything.) Ed |

The hook with the C&R is you are supposed to use it to buy for your
collection. You can do limited selling and trading to add to your
collection, but if it looks like you are selling as much as you buy
the'll have a talk with you!

Ill give you blokes some idea what happens here downunder. Upon seein the weapon you like you ask the dealer for a permit to acquire that weapon. Fill in the permit and send $30 AU to the firearms registry along with permit. After 5 to 8 weeks.. as long as the registry has made sure you are licensed to buy that particular gun... and youve been a good good boy, they might send you a letter saying. "you can have your rifle but....we'll be watching you!!!" Damn Liberals |
