My girlfriend saw a Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle today and told me it looks just like my little Enfield. She pointed it out to me and if I had to hazard a guess, I would say they took alot of design characteristics from the No5.
Does anyone have insight into if Ruger did in fact base the Scout off of the No5?

The butt pad area and the muzzle brake are definite queues from the No5

its all a development of someone else's idea.
Personally If I was designing a "Scout Rifle" nowadays it wouldn't be in some oddball caliber. Lets face it you're *ahem* borrowing loads from the supply chain.
I'd be more likely to go with the 7.62 No 5 1/2 carbine!

At somewhat of a tangent - did you realise that SAKO actually took Lee Enfield's, modified the to .243 and sold them as SAKO's ?

Interesting thread on the SAKO Forum :

i stick with 762 and 556 , 9mm and 45cal , as well as 22lr and 12ga  for all my standards - only way to insure you can have a supply when SHTF ,

but i have others for various disciplines that require it as well as my collectibles , these i have but do not stock unless i get a real need for an obscure reason - most i reload
