Hoadie, my late uncle was a GM exec, and when he lived in White Plains
he would hop across the border to purchase case lots of whiskey for
entertaining. He would go across the "regular" bridge and through
customs, but came back across a one lane bridge with a customs agent
who hadn't left his booth in ten years. always got a pleasant
"good day" and a wave.
I miss the good old days! Ed |

Me too.I went out to Emmerson, Manitoba years back -fer my late sister's wedding.Bar/hotel would close @ 10:00 in those days(maybe still do - i dunno), so everyone would just head over to N.Dakota(ferget the name of the town-but they had boardwalk sidewalks fer flooding).
US customs would sit & wave @ ya drivin thru (less he didn't recognize ya.) & comin home, OUR customs guy always went home @5:30.Just drive on thru. US border patrol had the phone # of the only RCMP officer in Emmerson, so if they had a problem they'd call him & continue chase into Cdn side.(RCMP guy only worked days too.) Wasn't a whole lot of problems with that system-cause there was no problems to begin with - if ya follow me. I hear it got somewhat upgraded since. Hoadie |

the 4th is tuesday not much planed what with the kids being the age

continent with a nanny or aunt and uncle
as far as i know Boogie will leave with his Nanny on the 8th of July and be back when ever. Megan has a job so she will be hear this year. but its to dry at this time to do anything fun. ya know like bonfire big exploisains and a lot of gun fire . we used to have a Bar-B-Que and everyone would bring there guns and we would get out on the range and all hell would break loose. you could almost buy a case of beer with the brass left on the range.( man that would make Hoadie happy ) The "White Rhino" Edited by White Rhino - July 01 2006 at 5:24am |
