Quick sight pusher reviews. “ELBY” Lee Enfield front sight adjusting cramp, No1 MkIII/ Ishapore & No4/No5 versions. These are machined aluminum alloy “stirrups” that grasp various parts of the sights (varying depending on model) & allow pushing under control the front sight blades of various Lee Enfields to zero for windage. They have either one, or two hex bolts & include the key to turn them so the blade can be slid under control rather than tapped into the correct position. The one for the SMLE does require the nose cap to be removed to work (as do all of these), but the one for the No4 & No5 does not need the sight protector removing. It just sits over the top.
With the increase in price & assumption of, “Rare, Collectible status” the old originals have effectively priced themselves out of the “working tool” category, at least to me so they are a welcome addition to the range of choices at under $20 a pop, including free shipping in the USA! I bought the SMLE (which also fits Lithgows & Ishapores) & was impressed, it is slightly different from the originals & does not have an included scale. You're advised to “use small movements” to achieve accurate adjustments & 5 minutes with a caliper & the tool will let you form a “1/4 turn = (x) fractions of an inch which is repeatable. The SMLE version has 2 opposing bolts & fits snugly round the sight mounting block by sliding in from the muzzle end & you can push to the left or the right depending on which screw you tighten or loosen, just like the originals. The No4/No5 version has one screw & sits over the top of the sight protector. You simply flip the tool round 180° to push the other way, no biggie, & it gives the advantage of not needing the sight protector to be removed so its a good trade off IMO. It even comes with a reversed
screwdriver to fit the oddball locking screw in some of the rifle
sight blocks! I finally own this tool after 55 years of messing with valve extractors & other makeshift fixes! Yay! Would I recommend them? Yes! They're a neat, affordable tool & work well. I liked the SMLE one so much I immediately ordered the No4/No5 one as well. |

Thanks for that Shamu, I'm going to get the one for the No. 4, even tho all my front sights are the clamp type with screw, this makes it easier to get right the first time. A great price too!

Hey you'll finally have the right screwdriver even! ![]() The bolts come dry, I put a little dab of grease on the threads & ran them in & out a little before I started. I think you'll like them I did. |

I told you they were good! Lol!
![]() I have been using Elby sight pushers for quite a while. I like them a lot. Cheap and effective.
