Zed, for now, I’ve decided on using the .22 Rimfire 50 yard Reduced SR Target.  This will put all three Rifle Classes using the same target and all scores will be directly comparable.

The SR Target is not very challenging in the prone position (the SR target is really intended for Standing Slow Fire and Sitting Rapid Fire), however, for relatively inexperienced shooters, it gives them an achievable goal to shoot a “clean” score (100 points with a high X ring count).  Someone like you may be able to shoot 100-10x on this target.  If it becomes to easy, we can change the target to the NRA MR target reduced to 50 yards (also available on the ray-vin web site for printing.  If you shoot 100-10x on that, you need to be on the Olympic Team!

Goosic, PH5C is fine for the .22 Trainer class.  Does the optic have any magnification or is it just focus? If it has magnification, can you set it to 1x power or remove it and install the disc aperture?

The .303 Long Branch with scope would be fine for the “unlimited” class.

I’ve tried to keep the Class definitions broad and inclusive enough such that almost any Lee Enfield rifle can be used.  The intent of the Class 1 Service Rifle is for those rifles that are essentially close to the “as issued” configuration with allowance for aperture sights such as the PH and AJ Parker and shot prone as they were in Service Rifle Matches.  Rifles with scopes can be shot off the bench under Class 2 Unlimited.

Handloads are allowed for Class 1 and 2.

If there are several members wanting to have a scoped .22 Class, we can do that too...

Goosic, I want to be accommodating, but also don’t want to give some an unfair advantage.  Perhaps a .22 scoped class is in order if there are a few others with scoped .22 Trainers. I’m sure I’ve seen one or two others with a scoped .22.  But then, a 1.5x power is at a serious disadvantage from a 15 or 20x scope!  Do you have another PH5C you can fit?  Swap out the windage arm?  We will figure something out here...

I will probably shoot my CNo. 7 Trainer, it has the original rear sight which is windage adjustable. I need to find a 50 yard range....

Im going to shoot the SR-1 target because I can get twice as many targets for the same cost. Over at the club somebody locked up the target cabinet and they're holding the key in secret or something.

When I ordered them I got the same amount of black pasters as I did buff. Ill have a life long supply of black pasters if anything at all.

Im going to use either a no 4 or a no1 mkIII

I'll have to find some of those targets, for the sr1 .
I'll use my US property Parker Hale.
Should be fun.
Just ordered 3 packs of the targets on ebay.
Now all I need is a mat to lay on and a spotter
I don't think using Match grade bullets is going to help
My 72 year old eyes. Pretty sure iam going to have to change my front site, to a taller one, I have a assortment to choose from.

I like this concept and the different catagories.

I'll be shooting my No. 4 MK I in the unlimited class.

I'll probably be shooting it this summer once it's back from the gunsmiths shop.

britrifles... another question. In the "unlimited class" shooting off a bench is allowed. Does that include sandbags/rest? Thanks!

HT, yes, the Unlimited Class is intended to allow you to shoot supported off the bench.  So, a rest and a sandbag under the butt is allowed.

Goosic, setting the optic at 1x will be fine, that “is in the spirit” of the rules for no magnification for shooting the Service Rifle class.  However, if your SR-1 Target scoring ring diameters are as I provided in the first post, that is a target intended for 100 yards.  You can find SR Target reduced for 50 Yards on the Ray Vin website and can print that for free, it will be approx half the size of the NRA SR-1 target.

I’ve updated the first post to include how to score your target.  We will use NRA/CMP rules for scoring, if the bullet hole touches or breaks the scoring ring, the value of that ring applies.

Thanks, I'd wondered about that. Inward scoring it is then.
(time to rush out & buy one of those cute little magnifiers on a .30' pointy thing then.)Clap
