A 1942 Maltby-made No4 mk1.
Serial Number Z 14158
Imported to the US before 1968
Safety mechanism seems to be missing.
Possibly Factory Repaired in India. (this is open to debate) the "FR" stamp is a mystery in some respects.

^^^ THIS.
Without an overall view from left & right at a minimum its hard to tell anything else.
It should have left the factory looking pretty much like this, many were "sporterised" though by removing wood & bits & pieces to make a more "sporty" hunting rifle.:

Looks like it had a hard life and was put away wet.
Always looking for military manuals, Dodge M37 items, books on Berlin Germany, old atlases ( before 1946) , military maps of Scotland. English and Canadian gun parts.

Thank you for that information.  I have added some additional photos possibly helpful.  This rifle is in great shape,  I have taken it apart, cleaned it and hand rubbed a light layer of boiled linseed oil.

Its the forums parser, its strictly a single image at a time thing. For best results upload & post an image to the position of your cursor.
hit [ENTER] twice & repeat. that spaces them out a little.
